Position Description

QIAGEN Digital Insights is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bioinformatics Engineer who can contribute his/her own unique perspectives to our collective understanding of genomics and genetics data for biomedical research. 

Main responsibilities include: 


  • Consulting with researchers to recommend technology-based solutions
  • Determining computational strategies
  • Collaborating with software developers in the development & modification of commercial bioinformatics software solutions
  • Developing clinical report templates in Java/HTML to customize clinical test configurations
  • Providing consultation for customers and third party LIMS providers to build robust API interfaces into the Qiagen Clinical Insight platform
  • Working collaboratively across all QDI departments such as Scientific & Technical Customer Support, marketing, product management and R&D to facilitate the development of new solutions or improvements on existing solutions


Position Requirements

  • PhD or Master’ degree (in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Biology or a related discipline) plus 3~5 years experience working directly with customers in a consultative role
  • In-depth Knowledge of restful web based APIs is a must
  • Experience with NGS analysis pipelines and algorithms for a variety of data types (e.g. RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq, WGS, ATAC-seq) 
  • 3 plus years’ experience with sequencing platforms such as Illumina HiSeq, Illumina MiSeq, Ion Torrent, Pac Bio
  • 3 plus years’ experience with programming language such as Java, HTML Python, shell scripting . Proficiency with Java or HTML preferred
  • 3 years’ experience using dedicated development lifecycle management software such as JIRA
  • Experience with Linux command line tools and bash shell scripting
  • Familiarity with HPC and/or cloud-computing environments such as AWS
  • Working knowledge of version control tools and Docker

  • Strong ability to multi-task and track ongoing projects 
  • Excellent communication skills, and enjoys working in collaborative team environment
  • Effective presentation skills
